Six thousand Christmas ornaments. And each one a little gem of its own

The Jablonec Museum is home to the world's largest public collection of Christmas ornaments, boasting approximately 25,000 pieces. While you could previously admire about 3,300 ornaments in their "World of Wonders" exhibition, now nearly six thousand more will be joining them.

The imagination of the glassmakers truly knew no bounds! You'll find figures, shapes, and colours of all kinds, alongside surprising variations that will simply delight you. Among the most remarkable exhibits is a fairy-tale carriage for a princess, crafted from blown glass beads. Making these beads is a special tradition of Northern Bohemia, which in 2020 was even inscribed on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage.

This new exhibition also takes us back to a time when Jablonec Christmas ornaments traveled all over the world. Many of the beautiful pieces on display come from the former Jablonex company, their designs often shaped by the tastes of American customers.
